Riser System | Overhead System

Despite its unusual name, Floppy Sprinkler provides an innovative alternative to conventional irrigation techniques. Waterman Irrigation is proud to work with Floppy Sprinkler to introduce this product to Australia. Benefits of the Floppy Sprinkler include:

  • Water savings
  • Energy savings
  • Labour savings
  • Five-year guarantee
  • Easy and accurate fertigation and chemigation
  • Increased yield per litre

The unique Floppy Sprinkler® design allows for different installation options as required by the crop: short/tall risers and now also an overhead wire system with no equipment on the ground. This is ideal for vegetables, lucerne and other crops where tillage practice favours an overhead system.

Riser technical specifications:

  • One sprinkler uses 730 litres per hour. The flow controller maintains the discharge within 5% from 1.8 to 6 Bar.
  • The minimum recommended pressure at the sprinkler is 2 Bar.
  • For sprinkler pressures the gross precipitation for 11 x 13m is 5mm per hour, and for 12 x 14m is 4.2mm per hour.
Filtration: For sprinkler pressure between 2-4 Bar use 800 micron filter.
For sprinkler pressure between 4-6 Bar use 500 micron filter.

There are two methods of installing the system:

  1. Permanent - buried laterals with removable risers, suitable for alfalfa, pastures, sugar cane and bananas.
  2. Permanent - surface-laid laterals with removable laterals and risers, suitable for vegetables, bananas and other crops.

  • The poles are 12m apart with a span of 70 metres.
  • The sprinkler hangs from a 6mm cable pulled to a tension of 1200kg.
  • The anchor poles are 5.4 metres long (100 - 125mm thick). Support poles are 5.4 metres (75 - 100 thick), and one metre is planted into the ground. The wire is thus 4.4 metres high above the ground.
